Why now?
On 29 September 2026, Donald Trump said, “It's not AI, it's SI,” as he promoted the term “Super Intelligence”. The three-domain joke was built around that rebrand.
On 4 October, Trump announced a new federal task force called the Super Intelligence Force, led by Director of National Intelligence Jay Clayton. The BBC reported the announcement on 5 October. Reuters reported that the task force has 120 days to produce a report on AI risks, opportunities and the federal government's role.
